Pre-Renovation
Pre-Demoltion
Ensure Compliance. Protect Workers. Stay on Schedule.
EcoHazMat conducts comprehensive hazardous materials assessments in compliance with WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Regulation 20.112, ensuring all hazardous substances are identified before renovation or demolition begins. The most common hazardous materials in buildings include asbestos, lead, mould, mercury, silica, and PCBs. Beyond identification, we provide clear risk classifications and abatement recommendations to help you move your project forward.
Want to start ASAP? No problem.
EcoHazMat can conduct the assessment and get the report to you the next day, if necessary. We have developed effective and efficient processes for our assessments, making us a reliable business partner. Our team of consultants has over 50 years of combined industry experience.
Property owners, managers, and employers are legally required to have a hazardous materials assessment conducted before any work that may disturb building materials. To get started, email us your site address, scope of work, and contact info—we will follow up to schedule your inspection.
Asbestos Inventories
Asbestos management programs
Lead inventory
Lead management program
Full hazardous building materials inventory
An Asbestos Management Program is a structured system designed to prevent exposure to asbestos in the workplace. It outlines safe work procedures, defines employee responsibilities, and ensures workers and others are informed about asbestos hazards and how to control them. Central to this program is the Asbestos Inventory.
The Asbestos Inventory is a legally required document under WorkSafeBC (Sections 6.4–6.6) that lists all known, presumed, and suspect asbestos-containing materials in a building. It includes detailed information such as sample locations, asbestos type and percentage, material condition, and identifies any unsampled suspect materials that must be treated as asbestos-containing.
These tools serve to keep workers safe, ensure regulatory compliance, streamline renovation planning, and reduce liability for building owners and managers. EcoHazMat can produce specific pre-renovation reports directly from a full inventory—saving time and cost by eliminating the need for new sampling and site visits.

Odour investigations
Offices - Indoor air comfort parameters
Mould is a persistent challenge in BC’s Lower Mainland due to our temperate climate and high relative humidity. While mould is common outdoors, indoor mould growth poses a health risk and indicates a moisture problem.
EcoHazMat’s team are experts at investigating mould growth in indoor environments and related moisture issues. We provide clear recommendations to control, remediate, and prevent future mould growth in your home or building.
We also conduct scientific investigations of “sick building syndrome,” mystery odours, thermal comfort parameters, and other potential pollutant sources that might be affecting workplaces or homes.
Certified Industrial Hygiene (CIH)
EcoHazMat provides CIH services to identify, evaluate, and control workplace health risks. From monitoring airborne contaminants and noise levels to managing complex chemical hazards, we ensure your operations remain safe and fully compliant.
We specialize in navigating local regulatory hurdles, providing the essential documentation to keep your project on track:
City of Vancouver: We provide expert oversight and sign the Qualified Professional Declaration for Salvage and Abatement form.
City of Burnaby: Following fire or grow-op incidents, we conduct the required assessments and issue the Clean Up Certification necessary for building re-entry.
